FROM TWO
SMALL TOWNS.

Wrath of Proteus is a four-piece Dark Metal band from two small towns in Central Illinois. The band formed in 2023 when three metalheads from different stylistic backgrounds met at an open mic and discovered a shared hunger for rock, doom and heavy metal.

Their sound fuses Kara Norris's heavy bass, Tim Norris's blazing guitar solos and Jason Waldrop's dark, loud and sometimes political lyrics. Jason also occupied the drum throne on the first album, Sign of Zion, and shared guitar duties with Tim across both releases.

Current drummer Blake Carson brings lightning-fast kicks and the ability to slow the room into monstrous, ritualistic beats.

DOOM METAL FROM
THE OTHER SIDE.

“A band that sounds like it crawled straight out of a haunted crypt with amplifiers.”

The review places Wrath of Proteus in the murky intersection of doom and sludge: impossibly low guitars, thick distortion and arrangements that unfold like rituals performed in candlelight.

Jason's haunted melodic delivery recalls the ghostly edge of early Black Sabbath while the band twists that familiar spirit into something darker — warnings broadcast through distortion from the afterlife.

The verdict: a classic, otherworldly sound where atmosphere never has to surrender its weight.
